Welcome to Ursa Farm
Working to create a model of social renewal based on the threefold ideals of freedom, fairness & fellowship, through biodynamic farming, nature education, therapeutic programs & community building.
Located in beautiful Oxford, Nova Scotia, Ursa Farm is a small family-owned organic and aspiring biodynamic farm. We care for 60 acres of mixed fields and forest, where we grow nutritious food and raise happy animals. Our goal is to create a community farm based upon Steiner’s Social Ethic, where everyone works together with common shared values of love and respect for the natural world. We hope our efforts contribute towards creating a more healthy earth, happier families, and resilient local communities.

Biodynamic Practices
Based on the teachings of Dr. Rudolf Steiner, biodynamic farming aims to nurture the whole farm as a living organism. Restorative forces can then enter from the cosmos bringing harmony and wellbeing to all life on the farm. This results in the most nutrient dense and healing food products. Learning from nature
We believe in the wisdom and power of nature for both healing and teaching us. We know that nature connection is needed now more than ever, in particular for children who are at a critical stage in their developmental growth, when nature has profound benefits. We hope to offer these benefits for you and your family through Ursa Farm School.

Community Farming
Small family farms have been fading away from the agriculture sector for a long time. It is harder than ever to sustain a small farm, let alone start one. We believe that farming with multiple people or households is the way of the future. If we want to keep small scale organic regenerative farming alive, we need to work together. Healing & Therapeutic Offerings
By offering therapeutic workshops and events, we are working towards healing not just the individual, but also the social community. Building a strong and healthy community also offers healing to ourselves, even when we may not be aware of it. Through facing our fears, overcoming challenges, and creating beauty together, we find new ways of living outside of the current oppressive tendencies of modern day society.

Working Together
As a small family farm, we serve, but also rely on, the local community for support. Especially in the early years of starting a farm, when the inputs are high and returns are low, we can use all the help we can get. We also are happy to help others where and when we can. Reciprocity builds resilient communities. We are so fortunate to have found some wonderful local helpers. Volunteering or our open Community Work Days are among the ways you can get involved.
