Volunteer at Ursa Farm

Ursa Farm is grateful to receive your donations, whether it is through financial contributions, acts of service, or well-wishes. All of your offerings in support of our endevours are welcomed and needed.

We offer you a humble “thank you”!

The well-being of a community of people working together will be the greater, the less the individual claims for himself the proceeds of his work, i.e. the more of these proceeds he makes over to his fellow-workers, the more his own needs are satisfied, not out of his own work but out of the work done by others.
— R. Steiner

Ursa Farm is grateful for volunteer support received in many forms. We truly appreciate you, whether your contribution is through

  • volunteering in a Farm School session

  • writing for our Substack newsletter

  • donating time to help on the farm

  • or any other offering of kindness

The realities of starting a small business, and a small farm, while also trying to create social change, is not without challenges. If you believe that supporting local, organic family-owned farms is important, your donation would help sustain our endeavor. Our goal is to continue to grow our farm and contribute to local food security. Your support is immensely valued!

Your kindness and generosity inspire us to keep growing our dream. Thank you!

Volunteer with Ursa Farm School

Share your knowledge, skills, or hand craft

We are always looking for volunteers to come teach a skill or share an experience with the children in Farm School, whether it is for an hour, a day, or a session. We look for community members who have an area of expertise or a passion for a skill that aligns with Ursa Farm School's values of caring for the natural environment and each other. This could be anything, from bushcraft skills, weaving, telling a story, a puppet play, to playing an instrument, or historical artifacts. Any offerings would have to be developmentally appropriate. So far we have had volunteers offer to teach and demonstrate: sheep shearing, spinning and wool processing, bushcraft, outdoor survival, foraging, drumming, and painting.

Please reach out if you have a skill that you'd like to share.

We are grateful for in-kind gifts

Time & Expertise

We welcome those who have general farm labor skills and expertise, or goods to donate to us.

Writing

Authors and friends of Ursa Farm donate their time and knowledge to write articles for our newsletter.

Mentorship

We value the opportunity to learn from others doing similar work who have wisdom to share.

We truly value each of your contributions

Thank you to our supporters

As we have developed the Ursa Farm endeavors in the last four years, with each additional person that comes forward to support us, we are moved closer towards becoming a fully viable community. We would like to acknowledge people who are currently involved in what we are developing, and thank all those who met along the way. We have encountered many wise and supportive souls that have helped to guide and form this 19-year dream towards this point, where we are finally bringing it into being.

The book on the left is titled "The Core Points of the Social Question" by Rudolf Steiner, with a textured gray cover featuring abstract black lines. The book on the right is titled "Money for a Threefold Society" by T. Michael Cox, with a dark blue and yellow cover illustration of a person using a tablet at a desk, illuminated by a lamp.

  • Christopher Hahn has been supporting our community initiative with practical wisdom and advice. He has a similar community endeavor in Maine, where he the farm is owned by an LLC. Both Christopher and Michael Cox have met with us online to explore options for making sure that our farm remains viable for generations to come, and to help us to develop the shared farm community model that is right for our situation. None of what you see here, the beautifully organized pages and warm artistic touches, would be possible without one amazingly talented lady. She has created such a beautiful website to help us reach out and find more people to join our work here at the farm. We are also so fortunate that she lives not too far away, and has agreed to a barter system for her services that meet both of our needs. A true example of how when we serve the other, our needs are met in return.

    Thank you Agnes!

Elder contributions to community life are invaluable. None of these endeavors we are undertaking here would be possible without her steadfast support. Whether through practical everyday work in the house and around the farm; or with volunteering weekly to teach watercolour painting to the children of the farm school; or through being a constant source of wisdom and advice whenever we need it; we are immensely endebted and grateful that she chose to pioneer with us the beginnings of community life at Ursa Farm.

    Thank you Sharon/Mom/Granma!

If you have a service that you would like to donate, we are happy to add your business logo and website link to our supporters section, above.

Thank you all!
